Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has announced the heartbreaking death of her mother, revealing that the loss occurred just hours before a celebration held in her honour.
The film star shared the emotional news via Instagram on Monday, explaining that her mother passed away on the eve of the party organised to celebrate her 55th birthday. Faithia disclosed that while she marked her birthday on Sunday surrounded by friends and loved ones, she was unaware that her family was already grieving a devastating loss.
According to the actress, the news of her mother’s passing was deliberately withheld from her until after the birthday festivities. In a deeply personal tribute, Faithia described her late mother as her “cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner,” calling her an “invaluable gift” whose absence is still difficult to fully process.
“Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party, and the news was cruelly kept away from me,” she wrote. “The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother.”
While Faithia did not disclose the cause of death, she noted that she has taken solace in her faith and appealed for privacy as the family mourns. She added that burial arrangements will be communicated at a later date.
“Whilst I have taken solace in Allah (SWT), the Williams’ family has decided to keep things very private for now,” she stated. “Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings during this period.”
The loss marks another painful chapter for the actress, coming less than two years after she announced the death of her father in April 2024.
