Africa’s biggest reality show, Big Brother Naija, is back with a brand new season, and it’s about to be lit!
Here’s everything you need to know about what to expect when the new season starts on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 7 pm:
1. In a typical move, Big Brother is starting the show with a twist. The new season will begin on Saturday, July 24, 2021, instead of a Sunday as they’ve done in the past five seasons. The first live show of season 6 will premiere on Saturday at 7 pm and then continue on Sunday at 7 pm. This means that there will be two sets of housemate introductions. The first batch is on Saturday, and the next is on Sunday, July 25, 2021.
2. The show will run for 72 days. It will end on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu will return as the host with his killer fashion sense and pidgin proverbs. As always, the fans can expect a ton of twists and several new gimmicks in the new season.
3. Fans of the show will find out how many housemates will be in the house on Saturday and the theme for this season.
4. MultiChoice will announce two different currencies that housemates will use for transactions in the house on Saturday.
5. The winner this year will walk away with 90 million Naira worth of prizes. They’ll get 30 million Naira in cash and 60 million Naira worth of other gifts, including an SUV, a house, trips, and other goodies from sponsors.
6. The voting system is also changing this year. Say goodbye to spending thousands of Naira on SMS votes as the show is yanking off that type of voting. Viewers can now show support for their faves via web and mobile app voting options. As usual, they’ll get voting capacity based on the standard of their subscriptions. This means that DStv Premium customers will automatically get more chances to vote than others.
7. All the housemates have been tested for COVID-19 amidst other tests. They will all stay in Biggie’s house that will be considered a bubble, with no contact with the external world. There will be no guests, Ninjas or visits of any sort throughout their stay in the house. There will also be no live audience this year to keep in line with COVID guidelines
8. People in the diaspora can get to watch the show on Showmax for 24 hours. Showmax will broadcast an exclusive 30-minute show called BBN Buzz twice a week where viewers can get all the hidden gist viewers may miss on other channels.
9. Biggie’s house is going to look completely different from the way it did last year. Expect new decor, new spaces, and even a surprise feature that has never appeared in other seasons.
10. The headline sponsor for the new season is Abeg, and the associate sponsor is Patricia.
The 10-week-long reality TV show will follow the lives of strangers as they interact and compete with each other to win the grand prize.
Big Brother Naija season 6 will run 24/7 on DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Confam and Yanga packages on channel 198 and on GOtv Max and Jolli packages on channel 29.
