Euro 2016 host France have stepped in the semi-finals.

Arsenal’s Oliver Giroud scored a brace for the French side as they defeated Iceland 5-2 in their quarter final game.

Pogba, Payet and Griezmann also scored for France while Sigthorsson and Bjarnason hit the net for the Icelandic team.

Getting this far is a victory enough for the Icelandic team ranked 133rd in the world four years ago.

They came from behind to shame England 2-1 at the last-16 battle just before the resignation of Roy Hodgson who won 33 of his 56 games in charge of the English team.

France will be facing 2014 world cup winner Germany in semi-finals on Thursday July 7 at Stade Vélodrome.
