Telecoms giant, Etisalat, has boosted efforts towards the revitalisation of culture and recognition of talents among Nigerian youth by throwing its weight behind the recently-concluded Saro The Musical 2.
The event held at the Shell Hall of MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, recording the attendance of dignitaries including Muhamadu Buhari, Rotimi Amaechi, El-Rufai, Senator Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora and several others.
Speaking at the event, Head Events & Sponsorship, Etisalat Nigeria, Modupe Thani it is important to encourage regeneration of arts and culture in the country because it is the cornerstone of a rich civic life.
According to her: ‘Arts & Culture can be a powerful force for good and catalyst for change. It is our belief that this force can, and should be harnessed in a positive way to work for change in Nigeria.’ She further stated that one of the objectives of the company’s operation since 2008 is to facilitate social and economic bridge in the areas they operate. ‘Saro The Musical, resonates with what we stand for at Etisalat and we are honoured to have the privilege to partner with the organisers of this show again,’ she concluded.
Starring a highly talented cast made up of last year’s much-lauded performers as well as an infusion of exciting actors like Bimbo Manuel, Dolapo Oni, Gideon Okeke, Saro The Musical 2 was a mind-blowing reincarnation with a 100 man cast, showcasing dazzling performances in lovely and colorful costumes, enigmatic and well-choreographed dance steps, and an exquisite fusion of jazz, Afrobeat, hip-hop, Highlife, Juju, Apala, and such other contemporary Nigerian music genres.
Saro is the story of 4 young people in a search for greener pastures, who migrates to Lagos with little else but an abundance of hopes, and dreams, where they are duly reoriented by the people and experiences they encounter on their journey of self-realisation. Weaving together the trials, misfortunes, love, and destinies of the foursome into a 14-act masterpiece, Saro tells the unforgettable and inspiring story of the journey to success in a city filled with broken dreams, as we see Lagos personified by its numerous colourful and characters, frenetic pace of living, and endless drama.
