Nollywood actor Emeka Rollas has been declared the new President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) today Friday, September, 2012 following a keenly contested election which took place yesterday.
The announcement was made by the electoral committee this evening.
Rollas who was a secretary during former president Segun Arinze‘s administration edged out another electoral candidate Ibinabo Fiberisima who was earlier rumoured to have won the elections.
Rollas, an actor-director made his way into Nollywood in 1999. He has acted over 30 other movies.
In April he was honoured with a US ambassadorship title along with Stella Damasus.
UPDATE
We have since discovered that Rollas was not officially announced as winner. The actor took it upon himself without the electoral committee’s knowledge to declare himself winner. The Actor’s Guild of Nigeria Electoral Committee (AGNEC) says Rollas lost by 11 votes to Ibinabo Fiberisima.
