Power supply returned to most parts of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after frustrated students shut the school in protests.
Over the past week, epileptic electricity supply had spiralled into a rare water shortage in the school.
Students also couldn’t use the main library which many say is unusable without air-conditioning.
Frustrated students staged a ‘mild’ protest on Wednesday afternoon over the situation.
But on Thursday, they upped the tempo and shut the school all day.
Protesters, NewsroomNG gathered, conveyed at the Amphitheatre as early as 8am from where they moved to the school’s main gate which they sealed.
Students also invaded hostels to practically drag their unwilling colleagues into the protest which didn’t end until the authorities addressed the students promising to fix the problem.
Protesting ‘enforcers’ also banged on doors to ‘drag out’ students who hid in their rooms.
Some students who tried to take pictures and shoot videos had their phones seized. We were told the phones were later returned.

Although UNILAG also suffers from the blackout currently plaguing Nigeria, we gathered the situation was worsened after some of its transformers failed.
It seems the issue was fixed as power has power was restored to the hostels around 8:35pm on Thursday.
We gathered, as at Thursday night, the taps and showers were yet to flow freely as the school worked to fix its water crisis.
The protesting students also want the school to reopen Shodeinde, a male hostel the school say it is renovating.
The students want the process completed so their colleagues who had to shuttle between campus and home could have hostel allocation.
There was no report of violence during the protest.
