Last night, Nigerian hip-hop pioneer eLDee, real name Olanrewaju Dabiri, disclosed that an individual, parading himself as ‘Lanre Dabiri’, has been impersonating him for months now, fleecing innocent individuals of their money in the process.
The impersonator, whose true identity is yet to be ascertained, opened a Facebook account in July and posted pictures of eLDee and his family, even going as far as updating his status regularly to keep his unsuspecting Facebook friends in the know of activities very similar to the real eLDee’s.
This episode further highlights the cons of social networking and some of the very unique challenges celebrities face in today’s world. eLDee rebuked his impersonator in very strong terms and has vowed to bring the individual to book.
