At the start of Ed Sheeran‘s year off he posted a picture on Instagram where he announced he was going to be off his phone and social media so he could travel and see the world through his eyes instead of a phone.
According to Ed Sheeran while on an interview on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, these are all the things he did on his year off:
1. Unlearn the lyrics to all his chart-topping songs
2. Going to Japan
This despite hardly having any fans there, just so that he could blend in easily with the crowds there.
3. Serenading a 9-year-old fan
4. Whitewater rafting
5. Swimming with bull sharks
And he did so without a cage.
6. Dipping his foot in a boiling hot spring
7. Bungee jumping

8. Taking a nose dive strapped to a war plane
He did so with a war plane owned by Peter Jackson. The ‘Photograph’ singer said: ‘He strapped me to the front of one of them standing up and then flew me around.’
9. Recording music in a ship’s freezer room
And not just any ship, he did so in a custom-built recording studio in the freezer room of the Queen Mary 2.
10. Taking selfies with Filipinos
Apparently, his biggest fan base is in the Philippines and majority of the crew on the ship were Filipinos.
And then he came back with two hot songs and an album (and now photos) we are patiently waiting for him to release.
