Ed Sheeran has let slip that Ne-Yo is planning to marry after revealing the 35-year old star told him he has learnt the dance from the flame-haired singer’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ music video for his ‘wedding.’
The flame-haired singer has revealed his 35-year old pal – who was reported to have split with his former fiancée, Monyetta Shaw in 2013 – is set to tie the knot after the ‘Sexy Love’ hitmaker informed the 22-year old star he has learnt the dance from his ‘Thinking Out Loud’ music video for his wedding.
Ed – who dons a suit and dances with his ballroom partner, Brittany Cherry in the song’s music video – said: ‘I performed at the Stevie Wonder tribute and I met Ne-Yo and he was like, ‘I’ve learnt the dance from ‘Thinking Out Loud’ for the first dance at my wedding.’ I thought it was cool.’
Ne-Yo – who has kids, 4-year old Madilyn and 3-year-old Mason with Monyetta – also appears to be superstitious about his love life as Ed recalled he received a Valentine’s Day chain email from the star encouraging his friends to send the message on or risk being heartbroken forever.
Speaking on BBC Radio 1, he added: ‘We swapped numbers. You know those chain emails, like: ‘Send this to 10 people.’
‘On Valentine’s Day I get this text from Ne-Yo being like, ‘Send this text to 10 people or else you’ll never find love again.’ I loved it, I didn’t send it on though.’
Last year, Monyetta appeared on US TV show ‘Atlanta Exes’, which features several one-time wives or girlfriends of famous stars and also included Usher’s ex-wife, Tameka Foster.
Despite her appearance on the programme, Ne-Yo insisted last September that he had no problem with her.
He explained: ‘I have to go on record by saying me and Monyetta Shaw have no beef, we are not enemies in any way, shape or fashion.
‘The romantic element of our relationship is over but that is my partner, we’re raising a kid together.’
As well as performing at a Stevie Wonder tribute concert earlier this month in Los Angeles, Ne-Yo recently performed at The BET Honors.
