Popular UK Singer, Ed Sheeran, has acquired shares in the English Premier League (EPL) side, Ipswich Town.
The EPL side confirmed this development on Thursday.
In a statement issued by the club, it reads that the artist now owns a 1.4% stake in the club.
When quizzed on his recent acquisition, Sheeran expressed his delight, while describing it as a “dream.”
“I am really excited to have bought a small percentage of my hometown football club.
“It’s any football fan’s dream to be an owner of the club they support, and I feel so grateful for this opportunity,” the Singer said.
Meanwhile, Ipswich chairman, Mark Ashton, thanked Ed Sheeran for all the support he has shown the club for the last few years even as they begin life in the Premier League this weekend.

“The support Ed and his team have shown us over the last three years has been nothing short of remarkable and for him to make this investment in the club feels like the natural progression in our relationship,” Ashton said.
Ipswich has, however, noted that Sheeran will not sit in as a board member as his investment is only a minority one.
Ed Sheeran has been a shirt sponsor of both Ipswich men’s and women’s teams for years.
Ipswich will now turn their attention to their home fixture against Liverpool on Saturday in their first taste of life at the top flight.
