As Nigerian music continues to break borders and spread across the world, even a ‘serious’ publication like the 173-year-old The Economist couldn’t help itself.
It features two Nigerian superstars, Tekno and Mr Eazi, in its 1843 supplement.
The two rising stars are very close to catching up with Wizkid and Davido, who are the biggest pop stars in Nigeria at the moment.
Under the feature ‘What the world is missing’, The Economist describes Tekno as ‘one of Nigeria’s most prolific popstars’ whose ‘Rara’ single ‘follows in the fine tradition of Fela Kuti by skewering the country’s sclerotic politics’.
It also recongizes Mr Eazi correctly as a musician influenced both by Nigeria and Ghana.

The two stars have become crowd favourites, especially in the last year, and have filled the gap created by both Davido’s and Wizkid’s international adventures.
