Africa’s foremost digital satellite service provider DSTV, is for the third year running supporting the widely respected film and television programmes expo – BOBTV.
As done in previous editions, a ‘University Challenge’ with prize money attached will hold during the three day event. The aim of the University Challenge is to ‘provide the much needed training and hands-on experience to young filmmakers all across Nigeria’, the organisers say.
Festival director Amaka Igwe will engage practitioners, African filmmakers and producers of media content through the exchange of ideas, projects, exhibitions, training and skill acquisition, networking, workshops and seminars for the media.
‘As we all know, content is king. But to ensure that the content that is generated meets global standards, we have to catch them young, and we are proud to be associated with BOBTV in its efforts to catch the next generation of Nigerian content providers young’, C.E.O of Multichoice Nigeria, Joseph Hundah explains.
DSTV will be putting up the prize money for the University Challenge, one of the programmes of BOBTV. It will also foot the bill for expenses incurred towards the execution of the project.
Over the last six years, BOBTV has established itself in 78 departments in 36 Universities, providing thousands of students with education on audiovisual communication through its University Challenge. Countries like Australia, Canada United Kingdom, France, Spain, Brazil, South Africa, Egypt to mention but few have all participated in the highly reputable African event.
This year’s edition will hold from Tuesday, March 15, 2011 to March 17 2011, at the Ladi Kwali Conference Centre, Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja.
