A day after announcing his new record label, Don Jazzy has released a compilation album today as promised. And, the producer is offering every single song for free download.
Titled ‘Solar Plexus‘ which in general context means ‘a blow to the stomach’ or as they say ‘getting the wind knocked out of you‘, the 12-tracker comprises of individual songs from ‘The Mavins‘ – Wande Coal, D’Prince, Tiwa Savage and Dr SID with additional vocal back-ups from Don Jazzy himself.
Other than the intro where all acts feature on the same song, the album sees each act explore their style individually; sort of a pushing their separate brands which in my opinion defeats the purpose of a compilation album unlike the Mo’ Hits All Stars – Curriculum Vitae album where they sold the Mo’Hits chemistry in 2007.
While the ‘Don Jazzy bred’ acts Wande Coal, Dr SID and D’Prince have three songs each to themselves, Tiwa Savage (the surprise signing) disappointingly has only a song to her credit.
Understandably, maybe, because the entire project was put together in a rush., and Tiwa’s signing only just concluded.
Solar Plexus is a mixture of highs and lows as the acts perform brilliantly on one song only to fall short on the other. The production also doesn’t sound new as compared to past efforts. The album will however produce some club hits that will last for a while.
Is D’banj’s absence noticeable – of course YES.

Confirm..it truly mavin
So cool,nyc1
good album, though I must say Tiwa’s Savage Oma gi remains the best track.. Don Jazzy went crazy on that beat. Amarachi show IDJA highlife influence on the beat. Expecting big things from Mavin records, definitely a worthy introduction.. Peace
God will bless u Don-jazzy… I will give u 100% support

Crap!!
Nice one don jazz,, that amarachi song is wicked ,simply off the chain ,I can just see south-south peeps doing etighi to that song.
Sincerely, nice beats from don jazzy but the vocalists dint do justice @ all! I can’t pick out one song and say wow! Dat was something. I expected a slam of an album so yea, I’m disappointed. And the dumbest song was YOLO…’Like seriously??’ Dr sid?? But d beats were crazzzy hot!
Don baba j u d best in a space of 3wks u gave us ur best. Don baba j abeg sign durella to replace dbanj immediately tiwa u d best dr sid u tooo tight wit ur cpr, chocolate n yolo baba dudu. Ur fore ever n see mi ri is da bomb waitn 4 ur album, give us more fast song d prince I c a lot of improvement, and I’m a marvin is da bomb, as for dbanj we dey laugh
Don jazzy beats 100%, chocolate by dr sid 70%, cpr by dr sid 70% omo ga by tiwa sawage 75% I,m a marvin by marvin star 89%, why u over there by d prince 50%, amarachi by d prince 65%, see mi ri by wande coal 55%, forever by wandecoal 65%, pretty girls by wandecoal 50%, take banana by dprince 65%, yolo by dr sid 60%. Dbanj absent felt, don jazzy sign durella to replace dbanj cos dbanj stole durella style. marvins work harder we dey pray for u people.
It’ll take a while before Dbanj understands what he has lost.Don Jazzy has no equal in dis industry.Versatility in totality.Loving Mavin
I actually loved all of d’prince’s songs, was totally disappointed with o ma ga and I ddnt really feel dr sid and wande’s presence.
Don jazzy dd a good job buh he can do better.. It must’ve been done in a rush cos its not up to d usual standard! I love Amarachi,Yolo needs improvement, why u over there is wierd buh I love it!
I know u guys will do great without d’banj so ALL THE BEST MARVIN!!!!
Waalahi. All the beat make sense Don-jazzy u be baba for life u always make Nigeria proud. I support u with all of my life.
In all fairness, I think this album has been in the
offing before they broke up. Mark my words, the other
crew here on Mavin will have something nasty to say about
themselves in the nearest future. Dr Sid is pathetic and
Wande Coal uses auto tune more than T-pain, D’price you
better go find a job cuz you so wack.
Good take off but there is room for improvement, Dbanj flavour surely missed and it will take sometime for pple to get used to his absence in the new set up. I think there is no need bringing in Durella to do the Dbanj thing. Don baba J should prove he can do it without the Dbanj flava. All in all Nice1
Jst listened to a song titled vip by little issue featuring rickross and dbanj imagine dey no give dbanj quarter verse 2 sing d only tin dbanj say After d song finish na all nite long 3times imagine a king in 9ja going to yankee to bcome a slave, even d oliver twist remix uk version commiting out on d 14th of may na don jazzy still produced am.. Dbanj b wise dis boyz go finish ur moni send u come back as a brole ass. Marvin I dey ur back dprince improve, dr sid improve tiwa u gud still improve, wande u gud but I no too feel u 4dat marvin album but I believe in u waitn 4ur album. Don jazzy u d best in producing in africa kip it up.
FANTASTIC album. Wande’s last verse on ‘I’m a Mavin’ is outrageous…”all your yarns dey make me Lmfao…see as you do your face, like Mr. Bean, talking trash, you be dustbin?”. Classic.
this mavin new album is the bomb, due to it being very portable. My best track is track 2-i’m a mavin
I am intoxicated ! I love marvinsssssss
Proud to be a Nigerian
