Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has described his fellow country man and captain of Manchester United Nemenja Vidic as his ‘lucky charm’ after the Red Devil skipper cheered him on in the players’ box as he defeated Tomas Berdych 7-6 (7/5), 6-4, 6-3 to reach the semi finals of Wimbledon.
‘It’s the first time he actually came to watch me‘, Djokovic said.
‘I’ve watched him before in the national team a few times. We met briefly. He’s a big star in our country’.
The tennis star also revealed that he and Vidic would have played for Red Star Belgrade back in Serbia if he hadn’t missed the football trial.
Also in attendance at the Djokovic-Berdych match was former United coach Alex Ferguson.
