
Disney Channel has cancelled Girl Meets World, a spin-off from Boy Meets World, that they aired and produced about two girls trying to figure out the world as they grow.
The show has run for three years and its last episode will be aired on January 20 at 6 pm.
However, repeats of the series will remain on Disney Channel’s digital platform and VOD.
The lead actress of the children’s programme, Rowan Blanchard, released a statement on Instagram about the cancellation that hinted that she was very sad about the development.
Other stars like Sabrina Carpenter, Augusta Maturo on the show have also written about how sad they are that the show has been cancelled, but they hoped they left a legacy and were able to touch lives while the show lasted.
Disney Channel also said in a statement: ‘We are proud that for over 70 episodes, Michael Jacobs, April Kelly and the talented creative team, cast and crew entertained viewers with an authentic and heartfelt look at navigating adolescence.’
The series earned two Emmy nominations for outstanding children’s programme over the years.
