It is not unusual for Nollywood actors to once in a while engage in social media spats, but when the two involved seem to have no history of any relationship, the matter raises some eyebrows. Such is the present situation between actresses, Toyin Aimakhu-Johnson and Stella Damasus.
Aimakhu wrote on twitter few days ago, ‘Madam NIGERIA is my country. Nobody is killing anyone cos no be only u do video…#visadonexpire #bringoursonback #attentionseeker #luvustill.’
The message was believed to be a sub at Damasus who wrote on her twitter page, ‘No form of political bullying or intimidation will work! You can’t shut me up! I will stand and speak the truth, regardless of your tactics…: That is what Nigeria is known for; you say the truth…they try to silence you! It will not work on Stella Damasus. I cannot be intimidated.’
Although Aimakhu has since deleted the tweet and written, ‘My attention was drawn to a tweet I tweeted yesterday pls O i wasn’t referring to anyone o is a poem o I’m reciting it ni o pls oo…I’m saying this and won’t say anything again, pls my tweet was not meant for anybody.. Pls I beg o i respect everyone o.love always’, many still think the message was directed at Damasus.
A Yoruba actor who spoke to us on the basis of anonymity said Aimakhu might have been referring to Damasus because of the part the actress allegedly played in Aimakhu’s friend, Doris Simeon‘s separation from her now ex-husband, Daniel Ademinokan, who then married Stella.
‘It is very possible. Toyin and Doris Simeon are close and they are from the same place and you know what people think of the Stella lady as regards the marriage of Doris, that is why I think it might be true’ she said.
