While Nigerians would be rejoicing as we mark the 52nd independence anniversary of the country, the people of Delta have been thrown into dismay following the abduction of the state high commissioner on higher education, Prof Hope Eghagha on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
The kidnappers allegedly intercepted his vehicle along Owa Ekei highway, killing his police orderly while the driver sustained gunshot wounds and the commissioner abducted.
According to sources, it is suspected that Eghagha may have been trailed from his hometown in Ughili where he had travelled to.
Police spokesman Mr. Charles Muka while confirming the incident said the police were on the trail of the abductors. Meanwhile the kidnappers are yet to make any demands on the family for his release.
