Starting his career as Staff Writer with African Concord magazine, owned by the legendary late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, Dele Momodu has always been in the thick of current affairs, working his way up the ladder of journalism and even surviving the unforgiving arm of the military rule in 1995.
Momodu’s illustrious life, featuring connections with some of the pantheons of Nigerian politics in the ‘90s and an encounter with the unforgiving hands of the military rule, would lead to him establishing Ovation International, now one of Africa’s most popular celebrity magazines reputed to be the only bi-lingual magazine in Africa with editions printed in both English and French. Building on the growth of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu established a TV version of the magazine, Ovation TV which has been a huge success, airing in Nigeria, Ghana, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
An excerpt from Azuh Arinze’s new book Encounters – Lessons From My Journalism Career describes Dele Momodu’s work-ethic and infectious character in the most expressive manner with descriptors such as “colourful” “courageous”, “charismatic”, and “creative” attributed to him.
