On February 4, 2012 a number of upcoming artistes will meet with artiste managers, producers, label owners, DJs, radio presenters, publicists and other industry stake-holders as the inaugural edition of the ‘Dear Artiste Forum’ kicks off.
The forum which is put together by COOL FM on-air-personality Fola ‘4lah’ Folayan will see participants discuss and rub minds about the intricacies of making music, the transition from being a rookie act to eventually signing up to a label amongst other topics.
‘Dear Artiste’ started as random tweets to several upcoming Nigerian artistes who use twitter both as a social network and as a music promotional tool.
‘The desire to reach out and help came from coming across so many young people who have lofty dreams of becoming music superstars. Unfortunately, I observed that a lot of them fall under the pressure of trying to break into the industry and some get discouraged by the lack of acceptance and immediate success they hoped for, and so, let their dreams die’, 4lah says.
The first edition of the forum will hold on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the conference hall, Gajons Hotel and Suites, Alpha Beach road, Lekki.
