It’s been 11 whole days since Yoruba movie actor Baba Suwe (real name Omidina Babatunde) was detained officers from the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
Reports say that a Federal High Court on Friday, October 21, 2011 approved the request made by the NDLEA to further keep popular comedian the popular actor in custody for 15 more days. The request which was made through NDLEA’s lawyer, Theresa Asuquo was granted by Justice Okechukwu Okeke. Reports also say that a 29-paragraph affidavit presented by an NDLEA intelligence officer, Femi Johnson Osifuye and a CT scan result issued by a consultant radiologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Dr. Subhash Vijayvargiya. The documents suggest that Baba Suwe has ‘large amounts of drugs’ in his body.
The NDLEA also made known to the court that Baba Suwe while under observation refused to eat, claiming that he eats only once in three days. Hence they reason for keeping him longer. After his second excretion, they were forced to conduct a CT scan on him. They also advised the actor in his best interest to excrete whatever substance he had swallowed as it would be disastrous for him if it burst in his stomach
However, speaking with Baba Suwe’s publicist Olamitunji Saliu, he says Baba Suwe has chosen to remain silent to the whole matter.
And on the news going around that the actor has sued the NDLEA, he says ‘Baba Suwe hasn’t said anything; those suing are Human rights activists whole feel concerned for the actor. ‘They feel Baba Suwe’s detention for 10 days in unlawful since they have not been able to find anything on him after 48 hours‘, Saliu says.
On Monday, Baba Suwe met with his family and had a ‘father to son’ discussion with his first son Sola. Just yesterday, fellow Nigerian movie actors like Jide Kosoko, Ajala, Monsuru Obadina and movie producer Gbenga Adewusi met with the actor.
Baba Suwe who was detained on October 12 in suspicion of possession of hard drugs is still being detained at the NDLEA office at the MMIA, Ikeja. ‘We are still investigating‘, NDLEA spokesperson Ofoyeju Mitchell says.

It ll be very unfair to baba Suwe if @d end of t all,they find nothing on him and time and money wasting if they find on him for NDLEA.When will all ds drama end?
I strongly think we should be careful.We all rejoice when its the downfall of some other person forgetting that this same lawlessness can affect us later.Which law permits NDLEA to detain a suspect for over 48hours?If we are to follow the law,then lets follow the law.Our founding fathers knew better than us
I would agree that we should all av patient nd gv d NDLEA d chance to really perform their duties,nd since we learnt dat a scan from LUTH even showed it dat he is having a large amount of drug wt him for let’s wait for dat 13 more days gvn by d court nd if after dat nothing is seen den baba suwe cn do wat ever he wnts wt d government

Is it large amt of drugs smthg else or baba sure…drank sm confusion b4 leaving 4 airport but only God know.
I strongly believe that Baba Suwe is in possesion of large amount of drug but he’s not going to excrete it as there must have been a step taken by his family member or die-hard fan in visiting a traditional herbalist to uphold the drug so as to avoid a national embarrasment on him for a 2nd time. My advice to NDLEA is that they shuld pls set him free b’4 the drugs burst up which may lead to his death.

Advice to NDLEA! Release Baba suwe before he dies I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ your custody. If he has indeed ingested any drugs ǦøD̶̲̥̅̊ will catch him again. pray he won’t be caught I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ a̶̲̥̅̊ country like saudi arabia where drugs traffiking i̶̲̥̅̊s̶̲̥̅̊ punishable by death.Holding him for more than 48hrs i̶̲̥̅̊s̶̲̥̅̊ unlawful and its a̶̲̥̅̊ disgrace to Democracy.
He needs to confess if he realy has it because when there is life there is hope.

Baba suwe has dos drugs in him. Pls ds is a matter teachn him lesson. Lets allow ndlea do its job. Smtin is amis, if nt dere is no way a scanner machine wuld lie. Nigerians jst watch out. I only hope it wnt b 2 late for him 2 confess.

if u guys luv baba suwe,then tel him 2 confess,he may b using juju 2 keep d drugs in his stomach so as 2 prevent his embarrasment,but he shuld know dat his life is at stake.NDLEA shuld b allowed 2 complete their job.

in Nigeria, we act as if we know all but we know nothing and do things unlawfully. NDLEA itself is corrupt cos it is unlawful for them to detain a suspect for more than 48hours. pls let him go,it is unlawful.
