From Wande Coal to Erigga and DJ Tunez, Davido has been involved in a series of heated exchanges in recent weeks. But while he may not always start the drama, does his response sometimes make things worse?
Davido is one of the biggest music stars in Africa, but over the years, one thing has also become familiar about him: he doesn’t like to ignore people when he feels disrespected.
And recently, that side of Davido has been on full display.
In just a few weeks, the singer has been involved in public exchanges with Wande Coal, Erigga and DJ Tunez.
The three situations are completely different. One started over a song, another came from a motivational post on social media, while the third grew from the Wande Coal controversy.
But they all have one thing in common. Davido responded and sometimes, his response did not calm things down. Instead, it made the situation even bigger.
That raises an interesting question: Does Davido simply defend himself when people come at him, or does he sometimes make the fire burn hotter?
1. Wande Coal

The first major drama was between Davido and Wande Coal. It all started with Wande Coal’s song “Come My Way.”
During an interview, Davido explained why fans never got to hear his verse on the song. According to Davido, Wande Coal had asked him to record a verse for the song. Davido said he recorded his part and believed the verse was good enough to be part of the original song.
However, according to Davido’s version of events, Wande wanted his contribution to appear later as a remix. Davido did not agree with that.
His argument was basically simple: if he was already on the song, why should his verse be treated as a remix?
The comments from Davido soon went viral and Wande Coal was not happy about what he heard.
Wande responded by making it clear that Come My Way was already a hit without Davido’s verse. He also made the point that Davido could not tell him when or how to release his own song.
At that point, the disagreement was still about music. Then things became personal. just like that, a disagreement about an unreleased verse became a full-blown social-media fight.
The internet was no longer discussing Come My Way. Everybody was discussing Davido and Wande Coal.
2. Erigga

The Erigga situation was different. This time, there wasn’t even a song involved.
Erigga made a post on X encouraging upcoming musicians and people trying to build careers without coming from wealthy families. His message was about people who had to struggle and build themselves without financial support.
Davido saw the post and decided to respond. The interesting thing is that Erigga’s original post did not mention Davido by name.
But Davido clearly felt the message was worth answering. He described Erigga’s message as “useless motivation” and called him an “imbecile.”
He also questioned why Erigga should have a problem with people who had financial support from their families.
The argument quickly became personal. Erigga responded and then came another nickname for Davido that started making rounds online: “Slovido.”
3. DJ Tunez

Davido and DJ Tunez recently sparked an online feud after Davido took to X to mock the DJ, calling him “Shitty Tunez” and accusing him of trolling him. The singer’s frustration reportedly intensified after he scheduled a major career announcement, only for DJ Tunez to announce that he also had something to reveal on the same day. Davido appeared to view the timing as an attempt to overshadow his rollout, leading him to postpone his announcement and launch a series of posts aimed at the DJ. He also referenced a past nightclub altercation involving DJ Tunez and Burna Boy, bringing up the viral “Ogbafia” moment and making personal allegations about what happened during the incident.
DJ Tunez eventually responded to the barrage with the message, “PROMO YOUR MUSIC DEY GO ABEGGG!”, suggesting that Davido was using the controversy to promote his music. He also appeared to continue the banter by playing Davido’s song “Nakupenda” during a DJ set, a move that fans interpreted variously as trolling, promotion, or a playful response to the feud. Davido had previously complained about Tunez’s sets, recalling an occasion when a fan allegedly asked the DJ to switch from Wizkid’s songs and play “Nakupenda.” Tunez has also referred to Davido as “Slovido,” keeping the social-media back-and-forth alive among fans.
This is the part that makes me look at these situations differently. I don’t think it is fair to say “Davido always starts fights.”
So no, Davido did not simply wake up one morning and decide to fight three people. But there is another pattern that is difficult to ignore: Davido rarely ignores a perceived provocation. Someone talks? Davido responds. Someone disagrees with him? Davido responds. Someone insults him? Davido responds too And sometimes, his response is even stronger than what was said to him in the first place. That is where things can get messy.
