After 13 weeks of dance, twists and turns, Dance 234, the dance reality TV show, has finally come to an end with Uche Cosmos emerging as winner.
The show which started airing on August 6, 2011 ended last weekend with a grand finale held at KOGA Entertainment Centre, Ikeja, Lagos. The show saw the last six finalists – Jane Chude, Bryan Peters, Unoma Onywekwelu, Bamidele, Uche Cosmos and Emmy slug it out for the number one spot. After a series of dance routines from each contestant, judges dance instructor Preeye Yibowei, Brandiny of the Mask Dance Team and Maryanne.
By winning the competition, Uche walks away with the grand prize; a car, one million Naira and a dance training abroad, while the duo of Bryan and Unoma who came second and third have won for themselves N750, 000 and N500, 000 respectively. Bryan and Unoma have also won for themselves a scholarship to study dance at the Society for performing Arts in Lagos for the duration of 3 semesters.
‘Most dancers in Nigeria are not appreciated, besides there are more reality shows in singing than dancing, so the aim behind Dance 234 is to give the contestants the needed exposure’, producer of Dance 234, Jemila Musa explains.
A total of 20 contestants made it to the KOGA house after undergoing rigorous auditions which held in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu and Benin.
