The Best Actor in a drama category was open to the general public to vote. As Dakore waited to announce the winner, chants of ‘Timini’ could be heard across the room until she screamed his name excitedly. Timini was chosen by the fans and he recognised them during his speech.
He said, “Wait, Wait, Wait, Mad o! Mad o! Mad o! Ten seconds, ten seconds. I’d like to thank Niyi Akinmolayan, I’d like to thank Baba God, I’d like to thank Dakore, I’d like to thank anybody that has ever hired me and all of you that are not here on this stage. My fans, Watch Timini, I love you guys. Hear me, I’ll make you proud. Thank you!”
His older sister and mentor, Dakore Egbuson-Akande who was also nominated in 2018 immediately took to social media to shower him with praises.
