The 33-year-old Juventus forward was reportedly also left out of Portugal’s International games in September so that he could rest after the FIFA Russia 2018 World Cup.
Portugal would play in the UEFA Nations League on October 11 before travelling to Scotland for a friendly on October 14.
The football star who has scored 85 goals in 154 games for his country is in the middle of a major scandal and possible term after an American woman, Kathryn Mayorga alleged that Ronaldo raped her in 2009 after a party in his penthouse suite in Las Vegas. Ms Mayorga was a 25 years old budding model at the time of the alleged incident.
Ronaldo has since denied the allegations saying he will not ‘feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at his expense’.
Commenting on the matter, Portugal Coach, Fernando Santos said nothing prevents Ronaldo from contributing to the national team in the near future.
An investigation on the case is ongoing.
