Popular Cool FM On-air personality Ejike (Dennis Ejike Ibedilo) was counting down the days to his wife’s delivery when, last week, he allegedly got a letter terminating his employment.
He was happy when his wife finally gave birth this week. But he was also out of job, impromptu. Those close to him say he’s confused and upset about the ‘unceremonious manner’ he was ‘dismissed from Cool FM.
‘Just like that’.
And Ejike is not alone. Long time OAP Vicky Alozie was also affected by the sack which, insiders say was condemned by most of their fellow OAPs.
Vicky had been at the station since the Dan Foster days, and ‘it was a shock to many when she was asked to leave‘, says an off-air staff who spoke to us anonymously.
It’s uncertain whether both presenters are contesting their sack. And no one could ascertain whether there were pending issues that could have warranted the company’s action.
But Larry D, who had also been a big player at the station, is believed to have resigned – although we’re unsure if this is connected with Vicky and Ejike’s sack.
Larry D announced his departure on micro blogging site Twitter, and answered a few enquiries.
While at Cool, Ejike, who prides himself as ‘Nigeria’s most fly‘, anchored, at different times, the Good-Morning Nigeria Show, the Road Show, Mid-Day Oasis, the Love-Zone, the All Night-Café, the Saturday Night Show (the Disco Club Mix) and the Cool Request Show, according to the Cool FM website.
And it appears listeners have noticed his absence already. A fan posted this on Twitter early this week : ‘And I miss ejike. wat on earth is joyce doin on d radio tonite? mcheew‘; continuing, in obvious displeasure, ‘I just hate it wen joyce is on d radio. dis 1 dat she’s using her nose to talk. mcheew…i miss ejike‘.
When our reporter called Cool FM, requesting to confirm why the broadcasters left the station, a senior executive who refused to give his name told us ‘yes it’s true, but the reasons can’t be disclosed. Thank you‘.
Ejike however, tells us ‘I’m overjoyed right now about the safe delivery of my wife. I don’t have time for Cool FM right now. It’s true, but I’m not the only one. Victoria, my colleague was also affected..‘

Larry D was the bomb! Definitely going to miss Vicky and Ejike. Joyce and N6 is a joke, wonder who is managing their programs. It all sounds like Cool FM is going back to 2008\2009 when everyone switched off. Good luck to my heros Larry d, Ejike and Vicky.
This cool fm self. Kai, e b like say u dey prison camp eh. I nor surprise big names like Larry D resigned less than 1 yr. I wonder whether all these broadcasters get union sef because CoolFM nor fit dey sack anyhow (Man wen wife won burn pickin). Yes, we we b human beings o. Na our leaders i blame. Not one person around me right now nor dey listen to Vicky for night before so why dem sack her. Dem must tell us o!
Mr Ejike be a man coz such is life & dat is not the end of the life, thank God that ur wife gave birth successfully. These’s are one of the problems with all this private companies, they can sack at any time. Well i really missed ur shows, u, larry D & vicky. But!! Remember, God knows WHILE.
I heard d MD of Coolfm does not appreciate people with experience and thrives on gossip.I will miss Ejike. not really a Larry D fan, Love Mannie and Valarie. Freeze is cool, YOP is intelligent.
VICKY out of cool fm nooooooooooooo,she has been what i sleep with for years now. Its so heart breaking, when i heard joyce some weeks back i thought vickie went for her normal hols or maybe was lil bit under the weather. Its not so fair,i can bet it cool fm is so losing on fans right now. Still not believing d story.

this for me is so dis heartening, ‘cos i started listening to coolfm just because of VICKIE. Wherever you are vickie,i’m missing your voice. I find it so difficult to listen to love zone again.

rubbish….i stopped listening to coolfm after ejike(8 wonders of d world) and vickie left.then just last week i tunned in only to discover that the giggolo presenter n6 is kinda a ladys.and thru-out the 45min i was listening,ladies where calling and no male caller….pathetic.its so bored that coolfm has turned into a ladies only station.

This is ridiculous. Ejike’s selection of music was the reason why i usualy stayd glud 2 d kul rqst show evry sunday nyts. I fil so sad each tym i tune 2 kul fm on sunday evnins not hearin Ejike’s voice and those music dat giv lyf 2 my soul.
