Uruguay opened the score line in the 19th minute when Diego Lugano took advantage of a defensive blunder to place the ball in the net, while Mikel Obi‘s spectacular goal got Nigeria a 37th minute equalizer.
Diego Forlan who was picking his 100th cap for Uruguay sealed the game when he hit the net in the 51st minute, as Nigeria tried unsuccessfully to get an equalizer.
Nigeria’s hopes of making it to the Semi-finals will be decided when they meet with Spain on Sunday, June 23, 2012.
