China has joined the list of countries who have refused to allow the release of the 2014 biblical movie, Noah.
Although the reason for the refusal is yet to be known, unconfirmed reports suggest that the ban may have been based on religious grounds.
Earlier in the year, huffingtonpost.com reported that the trio of Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates rejected the movie on religious grounds even before its world premiere.
The movie grossed $99 million in six weeks since its release in the United States and, according to box office tracker Exhibitor Relations, has made another $233 million overseas.
‘Noah’, which was released in March 2014, was directed by Daren Aronofsky and stars: Russel Crowe, Jennifer Connely, Ray Winstone and Anthony Hopkins.
