A group of Chelsea fans have been accused of racially abusing a man of African descent in Paris, France.
The incident became a hot topic when a footage showing the Chelsea fans, who were on their way in a train to watch the Champions League match between their club and PSG on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, viciously pushing the 33-year old man out of the train.
He had tried to join the train at the Richelieu-Drouot station. but was pushed back, not once or twice but three times in the video recorded by an anonymous bystander as the fans of the Premier League were heard chanting: ‘We’re racist, we’re racist and that’s the way we like it’ as they denied the French citizen entry.
The man in video is identified as Souleymane, with his surname withheld, is considering launching a complaint with the police because the Frenchman feels the culprits ‘cannot be allowed to get away with it’.
Meanwhile, a statement released by a Chelsea spokesperson, has described the behaviour of the fans as ‘abhorrent,’ making it clear that the club supports any legal action against those involved.
‘Such behaviour is abhorrent and has no place in football or society, we will support any criminal action against those involved, and should evidence point to involvement of Chelsea season-ticket holders or members, the club will take the strongest possible action against them, including banning orders.’
The match ended between PSG and Chelsea ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
