Just months after successfully premiering the Dagrin biopic ‘Ghetto Dreamz’, which is the first ever biographical movie on a Nigerian artiste, Ope Banwo, movie producer and C.E.O Stingomania Entertainment has revealed plans of shooting a biopic of Charles Oputa better known as Charly Boy.
Nigerian Entertainment Today got a hunch of the story back when ‘Ghetto Dreamz’ was being produced but we can now confirm (with pictures) that the forthcoming biopic is not a hoax. Charly Boy signed a deal with the Stingomania boss last week in Abuja to give him full right and access to his private life. Mr. Banwo has sealed the contract with Charly Boy and will go ahead to conduct a research on the life and time of the ‘Area Fada’ – ‘his struggles, his mistakes, his triumphs as well as his colorful lifestyle and fights on behalf of the masses’.
The biopic will be called Street Warrior.
‘I am highly excited and somewhat humbled to be in a position to make a movie about a living legend and icon of anti-establishment figure like Charly Boy.’, Mr. Banwo says
Other biopics currently being researched by Ope Banwo include a political biopic on Governor Bola Tinubu titled ‘Asiwaju’ and a musical drama on Onyeka Onwenu tentatively titled ‘Amazon’.
