Buddy Valastro, the self-proclaimed ‘Cake Boss’ with one of the biggest cooking shows in the world, was in Nigeria for the first time ever and decided to share some wisdom with bakers. If you are a baker, cake decorator or cake lover, then get in here, this is for you.
The cake boss himself has been more than generous with ideas and information on how you could create awesome masterpieces just like he is known for. When he was asked what goes through his mind when creating his masterpieces, he gave a thorough breakdown and we think that it could help you.
He said, “If I was taking a cake order for you, I would ask you a few questions, like what is the occasion, is there a theme, what are the things that you like, what do the invitations look like, and where is the venue? As you give me the answers, my brain is processing the information and I could see a cake building in my head. When you watch cake boss, you see that people tell me and you see that sketch, the reason we put that in the show is that’s really what happens in my mind.
“I build it in my mind with the client and then we agree on it. Then I have to do that building process all over again with my team because I go to my team and they think I’m nuts because they are like it’s not going to work, or it can’t be and we go through that process and work out the problems. Then we make it happen,” he said.
He also talked about having someone on your team that can draw and is in sync with you so that you can put your vision on paper.
Buddy Valastro is taking his show, ‘Cake Boss’ to higher acclaims by starting a new 4-part series, ‘Bake You Rich’ on TLC (available only on DSTV). In this new show, he will offer aspiring pastry chefs a chance to have their unique and delicious creations sold at his shop. The four-part show will start on Saturday, 5 October and will see four aspiring pastry chefs compete in the factory kitchen, where they will be tested on the deliciousness of their food and their valuable business skills.
