Reliable and reputable sources have reported that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead and his body has been recovered by U.S. authorities, U.S. officials said on Sunday, May 1, 2011.
The United States President, Barack Obama is said to make an announcement from the White House in a few moments.
Osama, 54 is the founder of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group who are responsible for the September 11 attacks in the US back in 2001. Before his death, he was on the American Federal Bureau of Investigation‘s (FBI) lists of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and Most Wanted Terrorists due to his involvement but was never apprehended.

In a short speech given by the president of the United States Barack Obama at a small conference in the White House, he confirmed Bin Laden’s death. He stated that the operation was conducted by an elite U.S. special forces on an Al-Qaeda compound in Pakistan.
‘A few months ago, we learned that Osama was in a compound in Pakistan. After months of intelligence work, we authorized an attack last week, and Osama was killed in a firefight today‘, Obama disclosed.
‘The American people did not choose this fight. It came to our shores, and started with the senseless slaughter of our citizens. After nearly 10 years of service, struggle, and sacrifice, we know well the costs of war. These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief, have to sign a letter to a family that has lost a loved one, or look into the eyes of a service member who’s been gravely wounded.’, Obama added.
‘We are assuring it is handled in accordance with Islamic practice and tradition‘, US Officials have assured the public.
