Interesting! Bolaji Rosiji is set to thread the path of contemporary Nigerian artistes as he officially declares his intentions to become a full time musician. And you don’t have to wait for long, to see the results of his new ambition – a debut single, titled Heart of Gold is already nearing completion.
Just like many other artistes, Rosiji attributes his new career path to ‘long time love and passion for music’.
He tells NET he had been looking for the opportunity to launch his own album, ‘But work would not allow, or you could say I’ve been lazy about it. So this is a chance for me to come out as a solo artiste as opposed to only singing in the church choirs of those days.’
Rosiji who identifies his mum as the source of his inspiration has described Heart of Gold as the Nigerian Version of Late pop star, Michael Jackson’s We are the world. And just as Jackson featured a host of music giants then, he also will be featuring Star acts like Sir Shina Peters, P-Square, Tee Mac, ArtQuake, Adewale Ayuba, Ara, Fatai Rolling Dollar, 9ice, Charly Boy, Lord of Ajasa, Stella Monye, Lexi Mojo-Eyes, Ngozi Nwosu, Olu Jacobs, Joke Jacobs and Daddy Showkey among others in the song which he has described to be a hope reviving classic, being the lead vocalist.
‘If we can just vote in good leaders and get Nigerians out of this desperado cycle, you will see what I mean. It is also a tribute to all the wonderful people that I have encountered in this adventurous odyssey called life, people who have sacrificed for me at times of need. And in particular, to all the so-called enemies, people who had sought to bring me down, I offer special thanks’, the celebrated Hare Krishna monk noted.
Prior to this time, he has being identified as one of the greatest investors in the Nigerian music industry in the last seven years through his involvement with PMAN, especially during the controversial Charly Boy years.
The video shoot for Rosiji’s single is already being planned ‘We are talking to a number of production houses, to see who can provide the appropriate combination of skills, equipment and film studio. The studio must have a high ceiling for some of our peculiar shots and must be air-conditioned because my artistes must not sweat. The razzmatazz of hip-hop videos is not a priority for me. All that can be done on a computer! I need a director of photography that can deliver cinematographic skills’ he emphasizes.
