Blessing’s journey into matrimony, which began on Friday, November 7, 2014 with a traditional wedding that held in her hometown in Sapele, Delta State,
climaxed on November 8, 2014.
The Africa record holder, who broke her own record at the commonwealth with two gold medals to her credit, was all smiles as she walked the aisle with the her sports personality husband.
The traditional wedding which held at Adidi Street, off Ikomi Road, Sapele, Delta State, attracted several individuals and top personalities in the sporting world and on Saturday, November 8, 2014, friends gathered at the St Patrick Catholic Church in Sapele, Delta State to witness the solemnization of the 26-year-old sprinter with her former Heartland FC player.
Okagbare joins Marion Jones-Hunter, Sanya Richards-Ross and Veronica Campbell-Brown amongst others, who now stand prominent in the league of married sportswomen.
Sharing her love story in a recent interview with sport journalists, she said: ‘He is someone I really want to be with because he is nice and God fearing. I couldn’t say no because he has all what I prayed for in my ideal man. He is a very easy-going person and he does not see me as Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare, but as the woman he loves and I love it.’
