The race for the governorship of Bayelsa State has taken a new and interesting dimension as some of the top contenders for the seat have apparently been disqualified by the PDP. This was made public in a press briefing by the national working committee, (NWC) of the party in Abuja on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Those affected include the chairman of Silverbird Entertainment Group, Mr Ben Murray-Bruce.
The reason for the disqualification of the candidature of Ben Murray-Bruce for the position according to the party was based on issues bordering on (undisclosed) statements made at the national secretariat of the party.
The former Director-General of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) lamented the fact that he was ousted from the race through what he described as ‘undemocratic’ means but vowed to personally continue in his fight against injustice and inequality.
Others who have also been dropped from the governorship race on the platform of the PDP include the former Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Timi Alaibe, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources, Godknows Igali, who were leading contenders for the party’s governorship ticket, as well as incumbent governor of the state, Timipreye Sylva.

ben bruce would have made a difference as a governor of bayelsa state, considering his achievement as a mogul, his investment has bettered the entertainment industry in nigeria. but it is worrisome how people luck doors of opportunities even when a Messiah came calling.the king makers would rather give opportunity to those who will keep the land poor. mark my word.
charity”them say begins at home, how wil ben bruce make an impact in bayelsa state when non of his business ventures is base in d state he claims to hail 4rm*BAYELSA*most bayelsans dont even know him as their son,he cant even speak his own dialect, beside his political train is stil amateur and needs proper nourturing, politics is no business.
It’s so unfortunate and sad that Nigeria will not get it right as long as the ‘cabals’ that controls the country from behind the scene are still there. They will rather give the leadership role to people they feel they can manipulate and control than to people they see or perceive as a THREAT. Remember that similar thing happened to Ben Bruce when he was in NTA. He was unceremoniously booted out when his ideology did not favour these same ‘government’ people’s selfish interests. And the bitter truth is that; Nigeria will continue to move in circles, unless this monstrous chain is BROKEN.
It’s a disgrace that when d son of d light tries to spread it’s light to the dark parts of niger delta we’re blinded by d same thing that blinded d early church which led to d inquisition this is political inquisition, make u people find a light to illuminate d dark hearts, mind, politics, economy of d niger delta!!see d light.
Well,he is out. I think that’s all that matters now. We all know what politics is in Nigeria!
Indeed PDP may have dropped Ben bruce from PDP race but its only d ppl’s wish must prevail. Ben is the best only thing coming to Bayelsians but they ll not allow as he’s ll not be chop I chop gov. So I suggest that Ben pitch his tent with CAN and make a difference to the ppl. God bless the good ppl bayslsa.
To me i think Ben Bruce is d best candidate, based on d fact that he has not tested politice before,i also think he can be prudent in the spening of d state fund considering d fact dat he read business administration..to me he is one of my role models, a man worthy of emulation.
