On Monday evening, Seyi Awolowo became the first housemate in this year’s edition of Big Brother Naija to ever win the Head of House challenge twice in a row.
As a part of winning the challenge and a task from Heritage Bank, the housemates were asked to call him the Tor Tiv for the rest of his second week as Head of House. They had a task to act out the coronation of a leader as is done in the Nigerian Tiv culture and the housemates took the task very seriously.
He was coronated as the Tor Tiv as part of the task given to the housemates by Heritage Bank today where they had an elaborate set up for the task. The council of elders that consisted of Sir Dee, Mike, Gedoni, and Frodd coronated the young man. Each housemate had different parts to play and was dressed gorgeously in traditional Tiv attires and even attires from other tribes around the country who had come to celebrate the coronation of the new king.
They were provided actual traditional singers and drummers that came into the garden to help them with the process of the coronation. They were also provided with the outfits that they had to wear for the coronation and they acted out their roles so beautifully.
Seyi Awolowo who had been coronated after being the Head of House had first asked one of his closest friends in the house Tacha to share the Head of House privileges with him but she had rejected. This came after she had been offended when he had picked another female housemate, Esther the first time he had become the Head of House. However, Seyi had to eventually choose Venita this week to share his privileges with and he and Tacha have remained friendly regardless of his choice. Long Live the Tor Tiv!
