Last Sunday, multiple-award winning comedian Basketmouth set a new standard for comedy shows in Nigeria with his highly-successful show The Lord of the Ribs. From the red carpet, to the sold out Expo hall of Eko Hotel and the stellar performances from the invited performers, The Lord of the Ribs truly raised the bar for comedy shows in the country, moving forward.
Basketmouth ushered the audience into the night with a volley of rib-cracking jokes before comedian Onyebuchi carried on thrilling the audience with jokes from his rich repertoire. Bovi then took the night to the next level, telling tales about his escapades as a married man. Crowd-favourite Gordons was next to perform, giving the audience their money’s worth in rib-cracking comedy.
The foreign comedians didn’t disappoint either, South African, Ndumiso, Kelvin J from the UK and British-born Nigerian comedian Gina Yashere, also weighed in with stellar performances. The show was regularly punctuated by Basketmouth, who called in seasoned funny men, I Go Die, Okey Bakkassi and Ali Baba, as well, to raucous applause from the crowd.
Right after the comedic performances was an interlude which saw a very lucky Mr Nnamdi Nwabara win a million naira prize in the Coca-Cola Open Happiness Raffle.
However, Lord of the Ribs was not an all comedy affair, A- list musicians like Tuface, Terry-G, MI, Sound Sultan, Eldee tha Don, NaetoC and Banky W also took turns to thrill the audience.
