Funmi Iyanda, award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker, will be speaking at NECLive 2025. Best known for her groundbreaking television programme New Dawn with Funmi, which ran for eight years, she has also hosted Talk With Funmi and Public Eye. Over the years, Iyanda has consistently used her platforms to amplify underrepresented voices in Nigeria, cementing her place as one of the country’s most influential media personalities.
Through her company, Oya Media, Funmi has produced documentaries and digital series that challenge narratives and spark dialogue. From covering Olympic Games in her early sports journalism days to documenting Nigeria’s fuel subsidy protests with Chopcassava, her work continues to push boundaries in African media.
