Australia has won the Asian Cup tournament for the first time after lifting the 2015 edition it hosted.
The final game of the competition against South Korea today, January 31, 2015 saw the Australian team end the tournament with a dramatic 2 – 1 win in extra time at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Massimo Luongo‘s strike inside a stunning first 45 minutes gave Australia the lead but an impressive comeback goal from Son Heung-Min in the 90th minutes took the game into extra time. With scores level, breakthrough finally came for the Australians as Jame Troisi scored in the 105th minute to end the game on a high note for the Aussies.
