It has also won the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) award for ‘Best TV Drama’, and has received nominations for Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy Awards, among others.
While the series has received much acclaim, Viola Davis, has won a good number of awards for her excellent performance in playing the intelligent, intimidating, yet troubled Annalise Keating.
She has won the Primetime Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series’, an NAACP award for ‘Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series’, amongst other awards and nominations.
Annalise Keating is not a perfect character, but she is one of the best at what she does – being a criminal attorney and teaching law to her students. She is also a woman of strong opinions.
The finale season of How To Get Away With Murder was recently released, and it got us reminiscing on this scene where Annalise showed that she would not stand for any nonsense.
She was going to be suspended by the board of the school she taught at, but she came back with the perfect reply.
‘No. Last time I checked, I was the victim here. An anonymous and potentially dangerous individual chose to launch a smear campaign at my workplace and your solution is to suspend me? No.
Lock me out of my classroom. I dare you. But you can’t keep me from teaching my students.’
