MultiChoice Nigeria has officially set the stage for the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, announcing that nominees for the highly anticipated ceremony will be unveiled on March 29, 2026. The reveal is expected to draw attention from across the continent, as audiences and industry players gear up for one of Africa’s biggest nights in film and television.
In a recent Instagram post, the organizers confirmed that the nominee announcement will air live at 7 PM WAT on Africa Magic channels, with award-winning actor Chimezie Imo tapped to host the event. “The spotlight is on… and it’s time to get to know your nominees,” the statement read, signaling the beginning of awards season buzz. The call for entries for the 12th edition had earlier opened in January, with submissions running from January 11 to February 15, inviting filmmakers and content creators from across Africa to showcase their work.
This year’s edition continues the AMVCA’s mission to celebrate outstanding African storytelling while spotlighting the industry’s growth and global influence. Backed by premium brand Don Julio as lead sponsor, the awards are positioning themselves as more than just a ceremony, but a cultural platform honoring creativity and craftsmanship. The 2026 edition will feature 32 award categories, including jury-decided and audience-voted segments, alongside lifetime achievement and trailblazer honors.
Set to take place in Lagos this May, the ceremony will also introduce new categories aimed at expanding recognition for indigenous language content. With more details expected in the coming months, anticipation is already building for what promises to be another landmark celebration of African entertainment.
