All lives matter! Wyclef Jean handcuffed after being mistaken for a robbery suspect

Haitian musician, Wyclef Jean is less than pleased with Los Angeles police officers after he was pulled over and handcuffed by authorities in a case of mistaken identity earlier today, March 21.

A video of Wyclef in cuffs, which was recorded by a woman he was travelling with, was shared on Instagram, along with ‘Clef’s take on what went down.

According to the former Fugees star, he was immediately handcuffed after being pulled over, and was then ‘treated like a criminal.’

I was asked by the police to Put my hands up. Then I was told do not move. I was instantly hand cuffed before being asked to identify myself and before being told why. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person. They proceeded to ignore me and I was treated like a criminal. I am sure no father wants his sons or daughters to see him in Handcuffs especially if he is innocent. As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by the bahavior of the LAPD.

In one video, Wyclef identified himself as a recording artiste and later threatened ‘to sue the LAPD.’

‘I’m coming from the studio with T-Baby,’ Wyclef said. ‘And y’all see the police have handcuffs on me. They just took off my Haitian bandana. That’s what’s going on right now with Wyclef.’

Why am I in Handcuffs!!!!!????? This is what I said to the LAPD after they put me in Handcuffs for mistaken identity !!!!!!!

As for why he was pulled over by L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies, TMZ reports that Wyclef matched the identity of an armed robbery suspect.

His car matched the description of the vehicle used in the armed robbery, and both Wyclef and the suspect wore bandanas.

Wyclef was eventually let go while the robbery suspect was reportedly caught around the same time.
