As she clocks 35 today, Genevieve Nnaji wants no shoes or clothes. She doesn’t care for a party or girls’ night out.
All the super star actress wants is for peace to return to Nigeria.
As her social media pages became awash with birthday wishes today, she wrote on her Instagram page ‘What more can I ask from God? I have a ‘whole’ family, loyal friends, dedicated fans, an amazing life. My only wish this year is peace for my country.’
Some of her colleagues, including Ini Edo, Rita Dominic, Monalisa Chinda and Funke Akindele, congratulated her via their social media accounts, with hundreds of fans joining in.
Born in Mbaise, Imo State, young Genevieve, at age eight, featured in ‘Ripples’ and 11 years after made an impression in the movie, ‘Most Wanted’. Her appearances in ‘Ijele’, ‘Last Party’ and ‘Sharon Stone’ further shot her to limelight.
In 2005, she became the first Nigerian actress to win the AMAA award in the Best Actress Category and in 2009, she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show where got the the tag ‘Africa’s Julia Roberts’.
Nnaji stands tall as one of Nollywood’s richest actresses, bagging most of the juicy endorsement deals including one with a telecommunication brand and another with a premium malt drink, both of which she recently sealed.
Happy birthday Genevieve. We hope you get your wish!
