Nigeria’s acclaimed king of comedy, Ali Baba is investing millions in his upcoming comedy concert tagged simply Ali Baba’s January 1st Concert.
Speaking with media reps in Lagos on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, Ali Baba disclosed that plans have been kicked off for the success of what is set to become an annual event on Thursday, January 1, 2015 and the show will gulp N50m.
‘To host a show of this magnitude in Lagos and at the Expo Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites, it can’t cost less than N50m and that is even because we would be enjoying some goodwill. This show is not your regular kind of show because it’s a first and that is why it would hold on Janaury 1st with many first to be unveiled.’
Highly rated comedy show producer, Bunmi Davies leads the core team of planners for the multimillion naira event.
Speaking about the modalities of the show, Ali Baba said ‘The show is a 2 class act. No fewer than 12 different comedians would unveil the 1st act. The 12 comedians would review, in the most comical way, events of 2014 from January to December while the rest of the comedians would analyze the events as presented. The show will further have a different set of 12 comedians roasting and toasting different people and personalities who created buzz and made news the year round.’
‘With an imposing 3D 2015 sign on the stage-which would be managed by Edi Lawani, the comedy concert will also witness the presentation of awards to deserving people who are pioneers in their fields of endeavours,’ Bunmi Davies hinted.
Billed to perform at the event include Jaywon, D’Banj, DJ Jimmy JATT, Shola Allison, Bovi, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, Owen Gee, Tee A, Bash, Teju Babyface, Yaw, Koffi, MC Abbey, Seyilaw, Elenu, Omobaba, Yibo Koko, Gordons and Okon Lagos.
