Nigeria’s inspirational singer, Nikki Laoye emerged winner of the Best Female Artiste in African Inspirational Music category at the 2014 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) which held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria.
Nikki was nominated alongside other inspirational artistes from across Africa including Monique (Nigeria), Gore Rapera (Zimbabwe) , Marema (Senegal), Sessime (Benin), Size 8 (Kenya).
The event, which was hosted by Nigeria’s 2Face Idibia and Togo’s bilingual radio and TV personality, Maryse Acotie witnessed awards picked up in 31 categories by Africa’s best music acts but notably earned Nikki her 5th award for the year.
Other awards earlier won by the rising star in 2014 include Best Female Artist-Africa (AGMA,UK); Best Soft Rock/Alternative Video – Only You (NMVA); Best Worship Song – Only You (CRYSTAL AWARDS) and a special recognition humanitarian award – ‘Ambassador of Charity 2014’ .
She was also unveiled as the Celebrity Voice for Refugees by the Federal Government establishment, NCFRMI (National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced persons), South-West Nigeria earlier on this year.
