The African Film & Arts Foundation Inc. is pleased to announce the inaugural launch of the African Film Festival Atlanta. The three-day festival will be held online November 20 -22 2020, with the theme “Celebrating Nigerian Stories”.
The opening feature film will be “The Ghost and the House of Truth” by Akin Omotoso. The screening will take place online, available Friday, November 20th from10:00 am EST to 11.45 pm EST. The film is about a dedicated counselor, who facilitates reconciliation sessions between convicts and the victims of their crimes. When her own daughter goes missing, her belief in forgiveness is tested. A Q&A session with the Director Akin Omotoso moderated by Actress/Director Terri J. Vaughn will be held online, Friday, November 20th, 12:00 pm EST | 7:00 pm SAST.
The closing night film “My Friend Fela” explores the life of legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti from the perspective of his longtime friend Carlos Moore. The screening will take place online, available Sunday, November 22, from 10:00 am EST to 11.45 pm EST. A Q&A session with the Director Joel Zito Araújo moderated by Radio & TV Translator Osei Kweku of v103.3 Atlanta will be held online, Sunday, November 22nd at 1:00 pm EST.
