Ivory Coast today booked a place in the final of the 2015 African Cup of Nations today, January 4, 2015 for the first time since 2012.
The semifinal clash between Congo DR and the Elephants of Coted’Ivoire was played on Wednesday at Estadio De Bata with the Ivorians producing an impressive 3 -1 win to be assured of being involved in the final match of the tournament at Congo’s expense.
A rocket stunner by Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure in the 20th minute gave Ivory Coast the lead before a 24th minute penalty awarded to Congo DR converted by Dieudonnne Mbokani equalising. Ivory Coast shot into the lead again in the 41st minute with the second goal by Roma striker, Gervinho is as many games while Wilfried Kanon added another in the 68th minute to take the game beyond Congo DR.
With the result, Ivory Coast will only have to wait for 24 hours more before finding out who they face in the final. The other semi final clash billed for tomorrow is between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea.
