If only one could sabotage Valentine’s Day, formulate a magic trick that obliterates the day from existence, wouldn’t life be better?.
For the majority of us perennial singles who are highly sceptical of love and lovers and would rather the day were set aside to burn effigies of our exes, this is one dream that would never come to fruition, unfortunately. February 14 will come with its entire attendant, seemingly never-ending miseries for us: love shows, lovers’ gatherings, lovers’ parties, lovers’ candlelight dinners, lovers … JESUS!
It is ideal to make plans before hand on how to spend the day. Keeping busy with friends or doing something you are passionate about will lessen the pain or the sting of loneliness. DON’T wallow in self-pity, and please, try to keep away from the company of ever present friends like ‘lager-field’ or ‘alomo-na’ or even ‘dry gin-ger’, you’ll only end up with numbing self-pity, not to mention the hangover that could last a few days. Avoid TV totally on February 14, if you can. Watch funny movies or play video games if you can manage it. And o yeah, don’t call your past flames, which usually happens when you’re senselessly drunk. They might just induce your suicide when you find out they’ve moved on and can hardly remember your name (of course they are really pretending, I know, I do it all the time!)
February 14 may be a difficult day for you, especially if you’ve just come off a failed relationship, but you’ll get through it if you find something fun to do for yourself. If it helps, just have it at the back of your mind that most of the grinning, hand holding, finger-interlocking, lip-locking, ‘lovey dovey’ couples stand a slim chance of being together same time next year.
Anyways Happy Val’s Day!
