2021 is off to a good start with music lovers recovering from the amazing music from last year and preparing for another onslaught. Mavin Records started off the year with a surprise EP from new signee Ayra Starr and other acts are gearing up to release EPs and Albums this year.
These are the most anticipated albums that have been announced for 2021.
1. Bella Shmurda: Bella Shmurda had an amazing year in 2020 and he is not resting in 2021. In an interview with Audiomack, Fineboy Bella revealed he will be releasing his debut album titled Hypertension-the follow up to his debut EP High Tension. The album will feature Shatta Wale, Kida Kudz and many more. He also posted a snippet of himself and LAX working on a song on his Instagram page.
2. Mr Eazi: Mr Eazi will release his EP called Something Else on February 19. The singer has also decided to be experimental with his next release. In a series of tweets, he announced he will let his fans buy shares on his next album and singles. He explained that he is selling the shares to allow fans partake in his success by making money from streaming his songs in appreciation for “consistently being among top 5 most streamed African artists since 2016.”

He’s recently released a single, “The Don” off the project.
3. Peruzzi: DMW’s Peruzzi had previously announced that his sophomore album, “Gaza” will be released on September 4, 2020. However, the album was not released on the said date. Three weeks after, a cover art and track list was released and the album was renamed Rum and Boogie (a play on R&B). The new release date was set for December 5, his birthday; yet it remained unreleased although two singles off the album, Not Me and Lagbaja had dropped. A third single, Southy Love featuring Fireboy DML was released days after Peruzzi’s birthday.
The album has now been pushed to 2021, but the release date is yet to be announced. Despite the delays, fans are eagerly waiting for the album which boasts of an impressive collaboration list including Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Patoranking, Phyno, Teni amongst others.

4. Rema: With his popularity in Nigeria and worldwide, it is a surprise that Rema is yet to release an album. Within his first year as a Mavin signee, he released three EPs. Rema, Rema Freestyle, Bad Commando and a compilation of remixes, Rema Remixes. He tweeted on January 4, “Album, yes” although he is yet to announce the title, release date or any information regarding the album.

5. Teni: Teni the entertainer might have blessed us with hits and two EPs but she is yet to release a full album. However, she will remedy that in 2021 with ‘WONDALAND’. She announced the title of her long awaited album on her Instagram page and confirmed it will be released in March 2021.

Since her breakout in 2018, Teni has been consistent. In 2019, she released her Billionaire EP and in 2020 she released a joint project with DJ Neptune, ‘Quarantine Playlist’.
The announcement is coming after a viral social media post where she thanked Davido for making an appearance in her video shoot for what appears to be a track on the album.
