For an artiste to enjoy longevity in the music industry, there are certain key things that he/she needs to have. One of them is the ability to adapt. The music world is ever-changing, and in the race of evolution, people who do not adapt will be forgotten.
Legendary talent manager and creative entrepreneur, Efe Omorogbe on Wednesday, March 3, celebrated his 50th birthday in what some would call an unorthodox manner. He decided to have a music business roundtable with seasoned experts from different sectors of the entertainment industry. It was hosted by Nigerian Entertainment Today (Nentg) and Now Muzik in partnership with the Association of Music Artistes Managers of Nigeria (AMAMN).
The topic of the day was ‘Talent Management: Perception, Reality & Challenges in a Changing World’. It was a knowledge-filled session with experts like Edi Lawani, Ayeni Adekunle, Olisa Adibua, Ayo Animashaun, Osaze Ebueke, and many more, giving insightful outlooks into the future of talent management.
One of such outlooks was the need for conscientious business planning for both the artiste and the management. Industry powerhouse, Edi Lawani, spoke on the importance of management having precise business plans for its artistes. Speaking at the webinar, he intoned that no two artistes are the same, and as such, the management should be ready to adjust to each artiste.
“Every talent needs a best-fit plan to succeed and remain successful. What has worked for 2Face will not necessarily work for Phyno. You need to analyze the capacity of the artiste, even the emotions. See what works for him/her and devise a plan to make that work. There is nothing like a one-size-fits-all. The methods of achieving success for talent are endless, and every good management team will have more than enough options to explore.”
Edi Lawani also said that when synergy stabilizes between talent and its management, adaptation is the next step to ensuring the longevity of the artiste/talent. The webinar also had a Q&A session where attendees asked questions, which the panelists were all too happy to give advice.
Efe Omorogbe continues to give back to an industry that he has been a vital part of creating. Efe has been both at the front end and back end of the entertainment industry. When he was younger, he started his career as a dancer, beatboxer, and rapper. When he felt it was time to move on, he created Now Muzik, a talent management, label, and consulting firm.
Efe Omorogbe is more than just ‘2Baba’s manager’. He has worked with some of the biggest Nigerian artistes such as Eedris Abdulkareem, 2Shotz, Ruggedman, Paul Play Dairo, Sunny Nneji, Niyola, Seyi Shay, Ill Bliss, and many others. He is also the co-founder and CEO, Hypertek Digital/960 Music Group, where he provides A/R and executive producer support to various artistes.
At his core, Efe Omorogbe is still a creative individual, and his entrepreneurial ventures showcase this. He runs an artistic solutions company, Buckwyld Media Network, and worked on major live events such as Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless, Star Music: The Trek, Eargasm, and many more product launches and tours.
There is no one word to describe what Efe Omorogbe encompasses, and with his crossing the 50th mark, it can only get better from there.
