Let the film begin. A few days ago, Chocolate City released M.I‘s third video of his entire career but the first for his sophomore effort MI2 titled Undisputed. It’s a pretty simple video for a track that many feel represents M.I at his less-than-best. It seems the video is just the prelude to something bigger. Well let’s wait and see.
So four months after the release of MI2, for the many folks who have rocked the album from top to bottom, the choice of shooting a video to this song as the first was somewhat strange, seeing that it is perceived as the weakest song on the album. Lyrically it is M.I at his least creative.
The video which was shot by Jonathan Jason Clarke starts with M.I coming out of a black mustang (dressed in all black everything which is the standard colour for rappers these days) and entering a building filled with hoodlums. As he spits and rhymes, the miscreants eventually overwhelm him. After that, we are hit with the cliché ‘coming soon’ phrase.
I get it that this video is supposed to be the opening scene of the movie concept which runs through the album. Opening scenes are usually arresting and gripping. ‘Undisputed’’ fails to deliver in this regard. It fails to grab anyone’s attention as M.I recites lines that are easily forgettable. This debut video is just way too bland for an album that many regard as the best rap album of 2010. But then, there’s still many more coming on the way, right?
Undisputed should not be over the top seeing that it is an intro of some sort but still the video has little or no replay value. If the creativity of this video is anything to go by, and if other videos follow this pattern, then MI2- The Movie might not be a hit at the box office. And I’d be happy for Mr Abaga and his team to prove me wrong.

MI is talented.i dont agree that this video was not nice,it’s cool.d track is a very interesting,it grabs attention and also makes u want 2 dance.
agreed the video was a little too simplistic/dull but labeling undisputed the joint “perceived as the weakest song on the album” is lame. please that stat is wrong on all levels!
I wonder why some won’t appreciate the truth when spoken.

the video so fantastic notin bad about dat
U know when I first heard MI shot the video for undisputed, I asked the same question…why that song? I won’t agree that the song is the weakest in the album, buh I don’t think its the best for a video. The video started nice with the mustang pulling up and MI stepping out, the rest was forgettable. All the pauses with ‘undisputed’ written across the screen showed a lack of ideas. Too few shots, very dull story, but MI still rocks!
